One of our favorite Christmas traditions is making homemade ornaments for our tree every year. This year, we started by making our sweet smelling Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments. These simple ornaments only require two, inexpensive ingredients and are fun for the whole family to make.
How To Make Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments:
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups of Cinnamon
- 2 Cups of Applesauce
Supplies:
- Mixing Bowl
- Mixing Spoon
- Wax Paper
- Rolling Pin
- Christmas Cookie Cutters
- Cookie Sheet
- Straw
- Ribbon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 200°.
2. Combine the cinnamon and applesauce in a bowl. Add more cinnamon if the dough seems too wet or add more applesauce if the dough seems to dry. The dough should be firm so that it can easily be rolled out.
3. Place the dough on a sheet of wax paper and place another sheet of wax paper on top. Roll the dough till it’s about 1/4 inch thick.
4. Remove the piece of wax paper on top of the dough and use Christmas cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the dough.
5. Place the shapes onto a cookie sheet. Poke a hole on the top of each ornament using a straw.
6. Bake for about 2.5 hours. As an alternative, let the ornaments air dry for several days or until completely dry.
7. Attached a festive ribbon.
