My children love playing with play dough! It is one of their favorite indoor activities for kids on a cold and snowy day. Today, we made our toddler-approved Snow Play Dough recipe. It is a simple and edible homemade play dough recipe that only requires two ingredients.
Supplies for Snow Play Dough:
- 1 16 oz. Container of Vanilla Frosting
- 2-3 Cups of Powdered Sugar
- Winter Sprinkles (optional)
Directions for Snow Play Dough:
1. Scoop the vanilla frosting out of the container and put it into a large mixing bowl.
2. Pour one cup of powdered sugar into the bowl and mix the two ingredients together.
∗ The amount of powdered sugar that you use will depend on the consistency of the vanilla frosting. The consistency varies by brand. We used Pillsbury frosting and 3 cups of powdered sugar.
3. Continue adding a half cup of powered sugar at a time until it has a play dough-like texture.
∗ If you accidentally add too much powered sugar, just add a few drops of water to soften the dough.
4. Add winter sprinkles such as snowflakes or snowman. This is optional but the sprinkles add texture to the play dough.
You can store this homemade play dough recipe in an air tight container in the fridge for about a week.
I love that this Snow Play Dough recipe is safe to taste if you have children who like to put things in their mouths too. So, let your little ones explore, discover, and have fun!
I love how this activity is great for kids of all ages to enjoy together. I like to get all 3 of my siblings working together on the same project as much as possible as it’s great for them and easier for me. Thanks so much for taking part in our A-AZ of Indoor Activities over at Crafty Kids at Home.
This is a great idea! sounds yummy 🙂
This looks so fun and I bet it smells great!
I would have never have guessed the two ingredients you used. I was convinced it had flour in it!
