One of our favorite Easter activities for kids is hunting for Easter eggs that are scattered around the yard. This year, have the Easter bunny put a twist on searching for those plastic eggs and send your children on an Nursery Rhyme Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt.
How An Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt Works:
Give your child a plastic Easter egg with the first clue in it. Once, your child solves the riddle or answers the question, he or she will know where the next egg is hidden. Your child will continue to figure out where all of the eggs are located, one-by-one till he or she has found them all. The Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt can lead your child to his or her Easter basket or a special treat.
For the clues, you can have your child solve a riddle, answer questions, or simply give them the name of the next location. I write out a part of a nursery rhyme and put it in an egg. Every nursery rhyme has a missing word. That missing word is the location of their next clue. Here are a few examples of the nursery rhymes I have used:
Hickory, Dickory, Dock
Hickory, dickory, dock,
The mouse ran up the _______. {clock}
Jack, Be Nimble
Jack, be nimble,
Jack, be quick,
Jack, jump over the _______. {candlestick}
This Old Man
This old man, he played two,
